At the end of this month, from April 23 through 29, I will be returning to Cape Verde with the Mendes Brothers, Ramiro and João, accompanied by trumpeter Walter Platt and violinist Ernesto Briceño (who currently lives in Barcelona).  We will be performing in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Mendes Brothers as a musical entity.  Ramiro was the first person from Cape Verde to attend and graduate from Berklee, having majored in Film Scoring and Music Production and engineering.  Since graduating, he and his brother João rose quickly to the top of the Cape Verdean music scene, with hits recorded by their band, The Mendes Brothers, and compositions recorded by other artists, as well as production credits on recordings by other artists. We will be performing in Praia, the capital and largest city in the island nation,  and home to the Gamboa Festival, which happens in June every year.
